o.k. i have been earching for ages and am about to go insane. Im going to London with a friend for the weekend in the middle of April and im trying to find some decent priced accomodation to no avail. We are looking for somewhere centrally located and by an underground station. but we are students and cant afford alot. We dont really want to pay more than £60 a night each. I understand cheap stay and realise the quality wont be amazing, but am just looking for a clean place where ill feel safe and can leave my bags there for the day without worrying that they will get stolen. can anyone suggest any hotels or b&b’s that they have actually stayed at (everytime we find cheap accom on the internet we look up reveiws and its terrible, mold and having to call the police have been mentioned!). i do not want to stay in a hostel or shared room with strangers.
any help would be great (apart from saying ‘london doesnt do cheap blah blah) thanks alot for your time and help!

Travellodge, about £40 per night, per room.
Its quite nice there aswell, i ususally stay there when i visit my dad. I’d recommend it.
Have fun!
If you do not find the room of your dreams, you may want to try purchasing an inexpensive monthly rail pass and taking the train to a more suitable location each day. Since you seem to want to stay near transportation this may be a better idea. The rail passes are often cheaper when purchased from the US before traveling. They also may let you get cheaper air tickets to another city an then ride the monthly free train pass already purchased to your room. This train pass may also help you see other countries cheap, cheap, cheap.
If you get the 18 bus from Euston station to the Stonebridge Park hotel (you can book via http://www.travelstay.com), it stops bang opposite so you cannot miss it. I have stayed before and it’s fine. Rooms are clean and you can have a hostel bed for £16, a single room for about £30 and a twin or double for about £45 a night. I have stayed there at least a dozen times and would stay again. There are computers you can use for £1 an hour, breakfast is included, you have a fridge in your room so can bring food and you have access to a communal kitchen. There is a bar too. Over the road is a pharmacy and a pizza place, and they have basic toiletries behind the reception counter too.
I saw a couple hotels offer 30 to 40 Pounds (Palace Court Hotel) for a double room. You can find them at this site: http://www.travel-europe.org. You can sort the list on prices for double or single rooms or look the hotel up on a map. I hope this helps.
Stayed in the EasyHotel last June. Yep that’s right…. EasyJet do Hotels. Did exactly what the website said. Was small with a bathroom and a window (can get cheaper ones without windows!!!). They don’t change your bedding or towels to keep the cost down and you have to pay for a remote to use the tele. I went with my then boyfriend. Genius idea because it was cheap as chips, safe, mega clean, and orange. lol. And the reception staff were really friendly.
I stayed in the one in Victoria. About 10 mins walk to the tube/bus/train station. We walked one morning to Bucks Palace because it was only about 25mins on foot away. And for food we just ate out at cheapy places. I wouldn’t pay a premium either for somewhere with breakfast because it’s not worth it.
